Building the Safety Case and Keeping It Current
A list of safety measures does not, on its own, show how the fire and structural risks in a higher-risk building are being managed. Duty holders need evidence: records of checks, findings and the action taken in response.
This online course explains the difference between the safety case evidence base and the written Safety Case Report, how to prepare for a Building Assessment Certificate application, and how to keep safety information and the report up to date as the building changes.
Who Is the Safety Case Course For?
The course is for those who prepare and maintain safety case evidence for occupied higher-risk residential buildings in England, including:
- Accountable Persons
- Principal Accountable Persons
- Building safety managers
- Property managers
- Facilities managers
- Housing compliance managers
- Safety case coordinators
- Building safety information managers
Why Is Safety Case Training Important?
Missing drawings, undocumented alterations and repairs that were never verified can leave duty holders unable to support their safety arrangements. Duty holders must manage building safety risks under Part 4 of the Building Safety Act 2022 and meet the Higher-Risk Buildings (Keeping and Provision of Information etc.) (England) Regulations 2024, which require building safety information to be accurate, accessible and held digitally.
Application documents, including the Safety Case Report, the resident engagement strategy and mandatory occurrence reporting information, should be ready before the Building Safety Regulator directs a Building Assessment Certificate application.
