Duty Holder and Compliance E-Learning — LOLER, PUWER, CDM and Asbestos

Human Focus specialises in the regulations most organisations know they must comply with but rarely train for — LOLER, PUWER, LEV, CDM and the asbestos duty to manage. Courses are pitched at three distinct levels: awareness for users, essentials for maintenance staff, and management for the duty holder or competent person. That layering is the useful part.

LOLER — lifting equipment
LOLER Management & Inspection for Duty Holders (Competent Person), LOLER Awareness, LOLER Risk Assessment, and Lifting Operations. LOLER requires thorough examination of lifting equipment at set intervals by a competent person — and the Regulations do not define competence, which is exactly why training matters. PUWER — work equipment
PUWER Compliance Management for Duty Holders, PUWER Essentials for Maintenance and Support Staff, and PUWER Awareness for Work Equipment Users. Three levels for three audiences. PUWER covers all work equipment — guarding, maintenance, suitability, training — and is one of the most frequently cited regulations in enforcement action.
Asbestos
UKATA Asbestos Awareness, IATP Asbestos Awareness, IATP Duty to Manage Asbestos, and Essentials of Asbestos Safety Risk Assessment. The Duty to Manage course covers the Regulation 4 obligation held by anyone responsible for non-domestic premises — a duty routinely overlooked by building owners.
CDM and construction
CDM 2015 Management Principles for duty holders, CDM Awareness, Banksman and Traffic Marshal, Silica Dust Awareness, and IOSH SHE Construction for Site Managers. Respirable crystalline silica causes silicosis and lung cancer, and cutting or grinding concrete, stone and brick releases it. See all CDM courses.
LEV, DSE and risk assessment
LEV Management for Duty Holders — local exhaust ventilation requires thorough examination every fourteen months under COSHH, and systems frequently fail because nobody owns them. Plus DSE Assessor training, Essentials of Manual Handling Risk Assessment, and Steam Boiler Water Treatment BG04.
Cleaning, environment and specialist modules
A substantial cleaning operations library — floor machine work, washroom cleaning, spill kits for chemicals and bodily fluids, safe storage — plus sustainability, carbon footprint reduction and waste management training.
Awareness, essentials or management?
Match the level to the duty. Awareness suits people who use the equipment and need to recognise problems. Essentials suits maintenance and support staff who work on it. Management is for the duty holder or competent person — whoever is legally responsible for the examination regime and for deciding whether equipment is fit for use. Sending a duty holder on an awareness course does not discharge the obligation.
