CITB Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) Online (Instructor-led)

Site Safety Training for Construction Operatives

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) course is a one-day course for construction operatives. It explains the hazards a construction worker may face on site, why operatives carry out their duties the way they do, what is expected of them, and how they contribute to keeping the workplace safe. It counts as one of the two steps towards a CSCS Labourer card.

Assessment

From 14 September 2026, delegates sit a 30-minute closed-book CITB exam of 25 multiple-choice questions, with a pass mark of 80%. Passing the exam and completing the full 7.5 hours are both needed for certification.

Certification

• CITB Site Safety Plus HSA certificate, valid for 5 years
• Refresh before it expires, otherwise the full course must be retaken
• CITB can take up to 8 weeks to issue certificates

Step 2

Once you have paid for your course(s), you will receive an email from our team advising how to begin your training.

Step 3

You will be provided with a username and password which will enable you to access the e-learning portal. Login to start your course, once you have completed and passed the course, you will be able to download and print your certificate straight away.
