Site Management Safety Training, Taught One Day a Week

The CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is a five-day course for anyone in construction who holds, or is about to take on, site management responsibilities: planning, organising, monitoring and controlling projects and the people working on them. PCR Global runs it live online, one day a week over five consecutive weeks, so managers can keep their sites running while they train.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course you should be able to:

• Put into practice the health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation that affects your daily work
• Apply new guidance and industry best practice on site
• Explain your own duties for health, safety, welfare and the environment

Assessment

The course ends with a 35-minute open-book exam of 25 questions set by CITB, made up of 18 multiple-choice and 7 multi-response or short written answer questions. The pass mark is 81%, and the GE700 and XA6 publications can be used during the final 15 minutes. You must attend the full 37.5 hours to be eligible for the Site Safety Plus certificate.

Certification

• CITB Site Safety Plus SMSTS certificate, valid for 5 years
• Take the two-day SMSTS Refresher before it expires, otherwise the full course must be retaken
• CITB can take up to 8 weeks to issue certificates; results can be checked on the CITB online card checker in the meantime

Delivery Method

Live, tutor-led virtual classroom on Zoom, one day each week from the first date shown. You will need a computer with a webcam, microphone and a reliable internet connection.
