Live Online Site Management Safety Training

Course Overview

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is CITB's five-day course for site managers. It covers the legislation that governs safe working in construction and shows managers how to assess risk, put control measures in place and lead a strong health and safety culture on site. It is part of CITB's Site Safety Plus scheme and endorsed by Build UK.

Who should attend?

Site managers, project managers, site agents and supervisors moving into a site management role.

Course Content

• Legal and management: health and safety law, CDM 2015, management systems, risk assessments and method statements, inductions and communication
• Health and welfare: stress and mental health, drugs and alcohol, dust and fumes, noise and vibration, manual handling
• General safety: site organisation, fire, electricity, plant and lifting operations
• High-risk activities: working at height, excavations, services, confined spaces, temporary works
• Environment: pollution, waste and nuisance

Course Duration

5 days, 9am to 5pm

Assessment

An end-of-course exam of 18 multiple-choice and seven short written questions, with a pass mark of 81%. Delegates who narrowly miss the pass mark may be offered a same-day resit.

Certification

CITB Site Safety Plus SMSTS certificate, valid for five years. Renew it with the two-day SMSTS Refresher before it expires.

Prerequisites

A good standard of written and spoken English, and valid photo ID on the first day.

Delivery Method

Live online, tutor-led training in a virtual classroom over Zoom, delivered by SMAS Worksafe's CITB-qualified instructors. You can join from home or work, but you'll need a computer with a reliable broadband connection, a webcam and a microphone. Delegates booked within 14 days of the start date receive their course materials as an eBook.

For short courses a completion certificate is available at the end of the course. You can screenshot this or print it out to confirm completion of the training.

For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.

All you need to complete our e-learning courses is a computer, tablet or smartphone and an internet connection.

E-learning is flexible, efficient, and cost-effective, meaning you can progress through the modules at your own pace, at your own time to fit the training in around your work and personal life.

Short online courses also help employers to demonstrate that they have fulfilled their legal duties to ensure their personnel have been adequately trained.

Once the courses have been completed, a confirmation of results can be saved or printed as evidence. This can then be kept on record as evidence of suitable training.
