Course Overview

The two-day SMSTS Refresher updates site managers on changes to health and safety law and good practice, and renews the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme certificate for a further five years.

Site managers who hold an SMSTS certificate and need to renew it.

Course Content

The five SMSTS modules (legal and management, health and welfare, general safety, high-risk activities and the environment), covering how to assess and reduce risk, run effective site inductions, intervene when work is unsafe and monitor a site for hazards.

Course Duration

2 days, 9am to 5pm

Assessment

An exam of 18 multiple-choice and seven short written questions, with a pass mark of 81%.

Certification

Renewed CITB Site Safety Plus SMSTS certificate, valid for five years.

Prerequisites

A valid SMSTS certificate. If yours has expired, you will need to take the full five-day course again.

Delivery Method

Live online, tutor-led training in a virtual classroom over Zoom, delivered by SMAS Worksafe's CITB-qualified instructors. You can join from home or work, but you'll need a computer with a reliable broadband connection, a webcam and a microphone. Delegates booked within 14 days of the start date receive their course materials as an eBook.

For short courses a completion certificate is available at the end of the course. You can screenshot this or print it out to confirm completion of the training.

For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.

Short online courses also help employers to demonstrate that they have fulfilled their legal duties to ensure their personnel have been adequately trained.

Once the courses have been completed, a confirmation of results can be saved or printed as evidence. This can then be kept on record as evidence of suitable training.

Step 2

Once you have paid for your course(s), you will receive an email from our team advising how to begin your training.

Step 3

You will be provided with a username and password which will enable you to access the e-learning portal. Login to start your course, once you have completed and passed the course, you will be able to download and print your certificate straight away.
