This 2-day CITB SSSTS course is a Site Safety Plus accredited qualification for construction site supervisors.

The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme is mandated by Build UK (formerly UKCG) for all supervisors on their sites. SSSTS training and certification is recognised as the standard for supervisors working on Build UK sites.

Promoting both construction skills and safety is essential to enhance work quality and reduce accidents and injuries. SSSTS training, required by Build UK, is also ideal for those aspiring to supervisory roles in the construction industry and looking to deepen their health and safety knowledge.

Who Should Take the SSSTS Course?

The CITB SSSTS course is intended for first-line managers aiming to continue or step into supervisory roles in the construction industry. It is recommended for construction workers and team leaders who hold or will hold supervisory and legal responsibilities.

Course Content

The SSSTS course emphasises the importance of risk assessments in the construction sector. It covers implementing control measures, using effective communication to maintain site safety, and monitoring control measures to ensure compliance with risk assessments.

Topics covered include:

• The Health and Safety at Work Act, Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice, and Guidance Notes

• Causes, types, and statistics of construction accidents
  
• Risk Assessments in various construction scenarios (working at height, demolition, occupational health, fire, electricity, confined spaces, contractor control)
  

The SSSTS course equips you with skills to identify problems in the construction industry, understand proactive and reactive monitoring, conduct risk assessments, appreciate the importance of method statements, grasp health and safety laws, and perform on-site inductions, method statement briefs, and toolbox talks.

Entry Requirements

• A good understanding of written and spoken English is required. Translators are not allowed
• Photographic ID, such as a passport or driving licence, is required.
• Written parental consent is necessary if you are under 18 years old.
• Failure to meet these requirements on the first day may result in disqualification from the course.

Certification

Upon successful completion, you will receive a CITB SSSTS certificate, demonstrating your capability to supervise in construction environments and your understanding of workplace safety.

Further Study

Successful candidates can progress to the 5-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) for site managers.
