Overseeing Contractors and Safety-Critical Work, Online

Fire door replacements, fire stopping and structural repairs can all affect the protections residents rely on. In occupied higher-risk buildings, weak contractor checks and missing sign-offs can introduce defects that are hidden once the work is covered over.

This online course shows Accountable Persons and the managers who support them how to appoint, supervise and sign off safety-critical work, and how to keep the evidence that it was done properly.

Who Is the Safety-Critical Work Course For?

The course is for those who plan and oversee maintenance and refurbishment work in higher-risk residential buildings in England, including:

  • Accountable Persons
  • Principal Accountable Persons
  • Building safety managers
  • Property managers
  • Maintenance managers
  • Refurbishment project managers

It suits housing providers, local authorities, freeholders and managing agents, and asset teams managing build-to-rent or student accommodation within the regime.

Why Is Safety-Critical Work Training Important?

The Building Safety Act 2022 places duties on Accountable Persons and Principal Accountable Persons in England, and appointing a contractor does not transfer those duties. Building regulations and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 may also apply, depending on the work and the role held.

Checks and evidence need to happen at the right time, before installations are concealed. Contractor vetting should also consider safety records and corrective action, including reports made under RIDDOR 2013.

  • Concise, focused e-learning with full audio voiceover
  • Certificate on completion
