MHFAider® Refresher Course Online (Instructor-led)

Course Overview

A half-day live online refresher for Mental Health First Aiders and Mental Health Champions. It brings your skills in using the MHFA Action Plan up to date, refreshes your understanding of mental health and the factors that affect it, and keeps your knowledge of the support available current.

MHFA England recommends that Mental Health First Aiders and Champions refresh their training every three years. The course is led by a quality-assured MHFA England instructor.

Who Is It For?

Anyone who has already completed the Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®) course or the MHFA Champions course.

Delivery Method

Live online training with an SSG instructor, delivered by video conference. You will need a computer with a camera, microphone and a reliable internet connection.

Course Duration

Half day (around four hours)

• Mental health, stress and the factors that influence it
• The mental health continuum and stigma
• A refresher on ALGEE, the MHFA Action Plan
• Warning signs of mental ill health
• Depression and anxiety
• Suicide and first aid for a suicidal crisis
• Psychosis and first aid for severe psychotic episodes
• Practising MHFA skills
• Self-care, wellbeing and recovery

Certification

Delegates receive an MHFA England MHFAider® Refresher certificate.

For short courses a completion certificate is available at the end of the course. You can screenshot this or print it out to confirm completion of the training.

For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.

To join online courses, delegates have to log in via a link provided through a computer or laptop with a camera, screen, microphone and access to the internet.

E-learning and Online (Instructor-led) training is more flexible, efficient, and cost-effective.

Short online courses also help employers to demonstrate that they have fulfilled their legal duties to ensure their personnel have been adequately trained.

Once the courses have been completed, a confirmation of results can be saved or printed as evidence. This can then be kept on record as evidence of suitable training.
