This CABWI-accredited NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding (Unit 2) course runs at PGL North in Harworth, Nottinghamshire, a centre with purpose-built streetworks and utilities training facilities.

One day. It can be taken as a single unit or as part of the five-day Operatives or Supervisors course.

Operatives and supervisors who erect, or monitor the erection of, signing, lighting and guarding for work on roadways and highways — and anyone wanting to advance their working knowledge of street works.

What You'll Learn

• The requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act
• How to erect and dismantle signing, guarding and lighting safely and in line with the supporting Code of Practice
• How to operate the equipment correctly and confidently

Assessment

Operatives are assessed by practical test and oral questioning. Supervisors are assessed by written assignment and observation exercise. Because a supervisor's observation exercise requires operatives to observe, a minimum of two operatives must be present on the course for supervisors to complete it — sessions are usually run as a mix of both.

Certification

Successful delegates qualify for a Streetworks Qualifications Register (SWQR) card, issued through the Scottish Qualifications Authority and renewable every five years.
