CABWI NRSWA Streetworks Operatives Course in Birmingham

This CABWI-accredited NRSWA Streetworks Operatives course runs at the PGL Midlands Streetworks Centre in Birmingham, a CABWI-accredited venue registered on the Streetworks Qualifications Register.

Course Duration

Five days, including the qualifying final assessment.

Delivery Method

Classroom-based theory combined with practical hands-on sessions at the Birmingham Streetworks Centre.

Who Should Attend

Anyone carrying out or supporting works within roads, streets and pathways, and anyone wanting to build their working knowledge of street works.

Overseeing operatives rather than carrying out the work? See the Streetworks Supervisors course at this venue.

What You'll Learn

The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 sets safety and quality standards for anyone working on local UK roads — single carriageways with speed limits up to 60mph and dual carriageways up to 40mph. This course gives operatives the skills and knowledge to work to those standards, covering the units required for the operative qualification.

Assessment

Operatives are assessed by practical test and oral questioning, supported by written tests and practical demonstrations across the week.

Certification

Successful delegates receive a CABWI certificate and qualify for a Streetworks Qualifications Register (SWQR) card, issued through the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

Renewal

The SWQR card runs for five years. Renew before it expires with a NRSWA Reassessment.

Good to Know

You can hold both operative and supervisor qualifications, but under the Act you cannot act as both on the same site at the same time — supervisors oversee operatives, so the roles have to sit with different people.
