NEBOSH — certificate level
The
NEBOSH General Certificate runs in classroom at Cardiff and as e-learning, with the International General Certificate online. The Certificate in Fire Safety is available both ways. Also online: Health and Safety Management for Construction in both UK and International versions, and the Environmental Management Certificate.
NEBOSH — diploma level
Four Level 6 diplomas by e-learning: the National and International Diplomas for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals, and the National and International Diplomas in Environmental Management. Very few providers offer all four. The Level 6 OH&S Diploma is the qualification that leads towards Graduate IOSH and, in time, Chartered membership.
NEBOSH — HSE-badged short awards
Five shorter qualifications co-developed with the HSE, all by e-learning: the Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessment at Work, Introduction to Incident Investigation, Certificate in Process Safety Management, Certificate in Managing Stress at Work, Certificate in Health & Safety Leadership Excellence, plus Working With Wellbeing. These sit between an awareness course and a full certificate and are a practical way to add a specific competence without committing to a long programme.

E-learning or classroom for NEBOSH?
NEBOSH e-learning is genuinely self-paced, which suits people fitting study around shifts or travel, but it demands more self-discipline — completion rates are consistently lower than for taught programmes. Classroom at Cardiff gives you a fixed timetable and a tutor in the room. For the General Certificate either works; for the Level 6 Diplomas, which run over many months, be honest with yourself about how you study before committing.
Which NEBOSH qualification do I actually need?
The General Certificate is the standard entry point for anyone with day-to-day safety responsibility. The Construction Certificate covers the same ground applied to sites. Fire Safety and Environmental Management are specialisms taken alongside or after. The Level 6 Diploma is a substantial undertaking for people intending to make safety their profession, not a next step to be taken lightly after a certificate.
