CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course (TWCTC) in London
The CITB Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) course is a two-day training programme designed for individuals on construction, building, infrastructure, refurbishment or maintenance sites who have, or will have, responsibility for managing and coordinating temporary works. It forms part of the CITB Site Safety Plus portfolio and gives delegates a recognised baseline of knowledge and understanding of the role of a Temporary Works Coordinator under the relevant standards, including BS 5975.
Who is the Course For?
- Site or project managers, engineers, supervisors, contract managers or others engaged with contractors who are responsible for or overseeing temporary works on site
- Individuals who wish to assume the role of Temporary Works Coordinator, or enhance their competence in that area of construction site management
Delegates should have a good understanding of written and spoken English and some relevant site experience of temporary works or managing site operations. There are no strictly formal prerequisites in many cases, although some experience of temporary works or site management is expected.
Course Delivery
Classroom delivery at the training venue in London, WC1B. The course is also available in a live online format.
Course Duration
Two days, running 08:30 to 17:00.
Course Content
By completing the Temporary Works Coordinator course, delegates will be able to:
- Recognise the need for and duties of a Temporary Works Coordinator, and understand the roles of other parties involved
- Understand and apply the principles of BS 5975 for temporary works procedures and falsework design in the context of site coordination
- Apply risk assessment, method statements, temporary works register management and safe systems of work relevant to temporary works
- Use the four Cs — communication, coordination, cooperation and competence — as a framework for managing temporary works safely and effectively
- Demonstrate a structured approach to the temporary works process from initiation through to design, check, install, monitor and removal
Completion of the Course
On successful completion delegates receive the official CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, valid for five years.
