Pre-requisites
Candidates must be 16 or over, have a good understanding of the English language, and be medically fit. Completion of 6160-03 is required. Participants can work in all types of confined spaces as an entrant and carry out rescue duties.

Qualification is valid for 3 years from the date of issue on the certificate.
Course Outline
This qualification is for individuals working as part of a rescue and recovery team. It covers preparing and carrying out emergency procedures, safe entry and exit, use of emergency equipment, handling casualties, and extraction procedures.
Course Aims and Objectives
The aim of this unit is to follow the national occupational standard for directing emergency rescue and recovery of casualties from a confined space. The qualification applies to both water and non-water environments and includes tasks such as rescue and recovery from sewer treatment processes, tunnelling, construction, power, drainage, and sewer systems, or other confined spaces subject to specified risks.
Course Content
- Undertake safety checks before entry into the confined space
- Ensure safe entry and exit into/from the confined space
- Safe use of all tools and equipment
- Follow all procedures and work safely as a rescue team member
- Understand the protocols for working as part of a rescue team
