What is the UKATA Asbestos Awareness E-learning Course?

A UKATA-approved asbestos awareness course taken online. Asbestos is a Class 1 carcinogen and the single largest cause of industrial disease in the UK. The course provides a thorough understanding and awareness of managing asbestos in buildings, meeting the training requirement of Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

Who is the Asbestos Awareness Course Suitable For?

People who are likely to disturb asbestos while carrying out their normal everyday work, or who may have an influence on what work is carried out. Note that for CCDO demolition cards the NDTG only accepts asbestos awareness gained in the classroom, not e-learning.

Course Content

• Overview of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012
• The nature of asbestos and its effects on health
• Products and typical uses of asbestos
• Safe working procedures, including control measures and protective equipment
• Minimising exposure and preventative controls
• Emergency procedures for an asbestos incident

Assessment / Examination

An online assessment of 15 multiple-choice questions.

Certification

Successful delegates receive a UKATA-approved certificate, valid for one year.
