What is the IPAF 3a & 3b Operator Course?

A one-day IPAF operator course covering both category 3a (scissor lifts) and 3b (cherry pickers) in a single booking. The IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) training programme was developed by leading industry professionals and is certified by TÜV as conforming to the international standard ISO 18878, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms – Operator (driver) training. The aim is to instruct an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of MEWP and to obtain an IPAF MEWP operator's licence.

Anyone who operates, or is going to operate, scissor lifts and boom-type mobile elevating work platforms as part of their work.

What's Included in the IPAF 3a & 3b Operator Course?

A day of theory and practical training at an IPAF-approved training centre, and the PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) on success.

Course Content

At the end of the course the operator will:

• Be aware of the relevant health and safety regulations
• Be aware of accident prevention and control
• Be aware of the needs regarding personal protection
• Be aware of the need to refer to the machine operating manual
• Drive the MEWP safely and manoeuvre the machine as required, to correctly position it and carry out the required tasks in a correct and proper manner, inside and outside a building

Certification

Delegates who successfully complete the course receive a certificate and a PAL Card (Powered Access Licence), issued by IPAF to platform operators trained at an IPAF-approved training centre. The PAL Card is recognised across industries as proof of platform operator training to the highest standard, and is valid for five years.

After completing the course, learners can order their certificate directly from the provider.
