The SIA Top-Up Refresher for Close Protection is for serving Close Protection Officers renewing an existing CP licence. It is the shortest route back to a valid licence for anyone already qualified, and avoids repeating the full multi-week Close Protection programme.
The course refreshes threat assessment and operational planning, and delivers the mandatory updated units including emergency first aid awareness and terror threat awareness and response.

Holders of a current or recently expired SIA Close Protection Licence. It is not an entry route into close protection work.
I want to move into close protection from door supervision. Is this the course?
No. You need the full SIA Close Protection qualification.
How many venues run it?
Fewer than the Door Supervisor refresher — close protection training is concentrated in a smaller number of specialist centres, so book early.
Does it cover first aid?
It includes emergency first aid awareness as a mandatory unit, but check whether your licence application needs a separate first aid certificate.
