The SIA Top-Up Refresher for Door Supervisors is the training you need to renew an existing Door Supervisor licence. An SIA licence lasts three years, and since 2021 renewal has required completing top-up training rather than simply reapplying.
The course refreshes the core Door Supervisor content and covers the newer mandatory units, including emergency first aid awareness, terror threat awareness and response, and updated physical intervention technique. It is short — typically a single day — and runs across a wide network of UK centres.

What if my licence has already expired?
You can still take the top-up, but check the gap since expiry — beyond a certain point the SIA may require the full course instead.

No. Upskilling moves you from one licence type to another. This refresher renews the licence you already hold.
Do I need to retake the full Door Supervisor course?
Not if you are renewing within the accepted window. The top-up exists precisely to avoid that.
