NEBOSH, IOSH and Environmental Qualifications at Fourteen UK Centres
Astutis is a qualifications provider rather than a short-course centre. The catalogue is built around three awarding bodies — NEBOSH, IOSH and ISEP, the environmental body formerly known as IEMA — and runs from one-day awareness courses all the way to the Level 6 Diploma that qualifies people for chartered membership. Classroom delivery covers fourteen centres from Plymouth to Glasgow, and almost every qualification is also available live online, as self-paced e-learning, or by distance learning. Alongside the qualifications sit practical regulatory courses on CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act.
NEBOSH — the certificate range
The
NEBOSH General Certificate is the anchor, running in the classroom at Bristol, Cardiff, Heathrow, Plymouth, Wakefield, Warrington and Westminster, plus live online and self-paced e-learning. The International General Certificate covers the same ground for people working outside UK law. Health and Safety Management for Construction runs at five centres and both online modes. NEBOSH Level 6 Diplomas
The National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals runs in the classroom at Cardiff, Warrington, Warwick and Westminster, plus live online and e-learning, with the International Diploma available as e-learning. This is the qualification that supports Graduate membership of IOSH and the route towards Chartered status. It is a substantial undertaking — expect a year or more alongside a job, and a genuine step up in assessment demand from the General Certificate.
NEBOSH HSE and specialist awards
The courses NEBOSH developed jointly with the HSE are all here: the Award in Managing Risks and
Risk Assessment at Work, the Introduction to Incident Investigation, and the Certificate in Process Safety Management for high-hazard industries. Alongside them, the NEBOSH
IIRSM Certificate in Managing Risk, and a Certified Accident and Incident Investigator Advanced Practitioner course for people who lead investigations rather than contribute to them.
IOSH — from workforce to boardroom
IOSH Managing Safely has the widest classroom footprint of anything in this catalogue — Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Durham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Northampton, Plymouth, Southampton, Wakefield and Westminster — with live online, e-learning and a refresher. Safety for Executives and Directors covers the board-level duty at six centres and both online modes. Working Safely provides the workforce-level equivalent. Two further IOSH-approved courses round it out: Managing Occupational Health and Wellbeing, and Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety. There is also an aviation-specific Managing Safely for airport and airline operations.
Environmental management and sustainability (ISEP, formerly IEMA)
The
ISEP range is the deepest of any provider on the site. The Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management runs at Bristol, Cardiff, Wakefield, Warrington and Westminster plus online and e-learning; the full Certificate in Environmental Management adds a distance learning option. Above those sits the Diploma in Sustainable Business Practice at Warwick and online. Shorter titles cover Pathways to Net Zero, Leading with Environmental Sustainability, and Certified Environmental Sustainability Skills at both manager and workforce level. ISEP is the same body under a new name — it rebranded from IEMA in July 2025 and the qualifications themselves are unchanged.
CDM 2015 in practice
CDM 2015 in Practice runs at Bristol, Cardiff, Heathrow, Wakefield, Warrington and Westminster, plus live online and e-learning. It is aimed at the duty holders the regulations actually name — clients, principal designers, designers and principal contractors — and at the practical questions of who appoints whom, what has to be in writing, and when notification is triggered. Building Safety Act and current regulatory change
Building Safety Act 2022 Awareness is available as e-learning, covering the duty holder regime, the gateway process and the golden thread of information. The timing matters this year: the Building Safety Regulator moved out of the HSE in January 2026, the second staircase requirement for tall residential buildings applies from 30 September 2026, and the Building Safety Levy starts on 1 October 2026. Anyone working on higher-risk buildings is dealing with a regime that has changed materially in the last twelve months.
Workplace health, wellbeing and risk
Shorter e-learning titles cover Risk Assessment in Practice, Mental Health and Workplace Safety, and an IIRSM-approved DSE and Wellbeing Toolkit for display screen equipment assessments. These sit below the qualification range — useful for rolling out a consistent baseline across a workforce rather than for developing an individual safety practitioner.
Choosing a study mode
Most qualifications here are offered four ways, and the certificate is identical whichever you pick. Classroom suits people who want the cohort and a fixed block away from work. Live online is instructor-led at set times — same structure, no travel. E-learning is self-paced, which is the most flexible and also the one people most often fail to finish, so it works best with an internal deadline attached. Distance learning sits between the two, with materials and tutor support but no live sessions. For NEBOSH and ISEP qualifications, exams and assessments are booked and sat separately whichever mode you choose.
