Online Lean Six Sigma Training & Certification
GLSS delivers Lean Six Sigma training and certification entirely online and self-paced, from White Belt through to Black Belt. The approach is project-based rather than lecture-based: you apply the tools to a real process problem in your own workplace as you learn, so the deliverable is a completed improvement project rather than only an exam pass.
Which belt level do I need?
White Belt is awareness-level and free. Yellow Belt suits team members who will contribute to improvement work and want the fundamentals of DMAIC. Green Belt is the working practitioner level, for people who will lead projects themselves. Black Belt is for those leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and mentoring Green Belts. Champion is aimed at sponsors and senior leaders who commission projects rather than run them.
Is Lean Six Sigma certification regulated?
No. There is no single governing body for Lean Six Sigma, and belt certifications sit outside the Ofqual framework — they are not comparable to an NVQ or a NEBOSH qualification. What varies between providers is recognition and rigour rather than legal standing. GLSS is a member of the PMI Authorized Training Partner Program, and its courses carry PDUs, which matters if you hold a PMI credential to maintain. Check what your own employer or professional body accepts before choosing a provider.
Individual courses or a subscription?
Buying a single course gives one year of access to that course. The subscription opens the full library — every belt level plus Champion and Lean — for an annual fee per seat, and stays open while it is active. If you intend to take one certification and stop, the individual course is the simpler purchase. If you expect to progress through belt levels or want the material available to revisit during a project, the subscription usually works out cheaper than buying courses separately.
Does the certification expire?
Yes. GLSS certifications require recertification every two years, achieved either by retaking the course or by submitting a Lean Six Sigma project. Certificates issued now carry a stated expiry date; older ones without a date expire two years from course completion. Worth factoring in if you need a current certification for a role rather than a one-off credential.
Who is this training for?
Process improvement and operational excellence staff, quality and compliance teams, project and programme managers, and managers in any function carrying responsibility for throughput, error rates or cycle times. The published case studies span government, healthcare, manufacturing, finance and education, so the methodology is not tied to a production environment. No prerequisites apply to the entry levels.
How is it delivered and priced?
All courses are online and self-paced with unlimited exam retakes, so there are no fixed dates to work around. Fees are set and charged in US dollars by the provider, and group discounts apply on multiple seats.
