UKATA Asbestos, IOSH Managing Safely and Face Fit Testing – Open Courses in North Staffordshire

PPS Environmental is a health, safety and environmental consultancy headquartered in Warrington that trains and audits nationwide, with a hands-on background in asbestos, petroleum, confined space and construction. The open courses listed here run from its Newcastle-under-Lyme centre on Lymedale Business Park, a few minutes from junction 16 of the M6 – a monthly asbestos day pairing the half-day UKATA Asbestos Awareness with the full-day non-licensed removal course, plus IOSH Managing Safely in the classroom or live online and a face fit train-the-tester day.

The monthly asbestos day
On the last Friday of the month the centre runs UKATA Asbestos Awareness in the morning and UKATA Non-Licensed Asbestos Removal straight after. Awareness is the legal duty for anyone whose work could foreseeably disturb asbestos; the non-licensed course is for people who will knowingly work on or disturb it. The non-licensed course requires a UKATA awareness certificate from the last six months, so booking both on the same day is the simplest route for a new starter. See the full asbestos range.
IOSH Managing Safely – classroom or live online
The three-day IOSH Managing Safely course runs both at the Newcastle-under-Lyme centre and as a live online session, at the same price, and can also be delivered at a client's own premises. It is the standard health and safety qualification for line managers, supervisors, team leaders and departmental heads. Compare other IOSH courses.
Face fit – train the tester
The one-day Face Fit Train the Tester course lets an organisation fit test its own tight-fitting masks in line with HSE INDG479 rather than paying per test. It sits naturally alongside the non-licensed asbestos course, where RPE and face fit testing are part of the syllabus, and the provider also offers fit testing as a service for firms that would rather not train a tester.
Getting to the Newcastle-under-Lyme centre
The centre is on Lymedale Business Park off the A34 north of Newcastle-under-Lyme, about ten minutes from junction 16 of the M6 and fifteen from Stoke-on-Trent. It serves Stoke, Crewe, Stafford and the Cheshire border comfortably – browse other courses in Staffordshire.
Keep the certificate current
Asbestos Awareness should be refreshed every 12 months, and the non-licensed certificate is valid for one year before a refresher is needed. IOSH Managing Safely has no fixed expiry, but IOSH recommends a refresher every three years. Fit testers should keep up to date with any change in the RPE their workforce uses.
