What is the Face Fit Train the Tester Course?
A one-day course that gives an organisation the capability to carry out its own qualitative face fit testing using the hood and taste method. Anyone issued with a tight-fitting mask must be fit tested for each make, model and size they use – the test establishes whether an adequate seal exists between the respirator and the wearer's face. Training an in-house tester keeps that testing consistent and takes the cost of external testing out of the equation.
Who is the Face Fit Train the Tester Course Suitable For?
Health and safety managers, supervisors, stores and PPE controllers and anyone else who will be responsible for fit testing colleagues. HSE guidance INDG479 requires fit testing to be carried out by a trained and competent person, which is what this course provides. Note that it trains delegates to conduct qualitative testing, not to teach the subject to others.
What's Included in the Face Fit Train the Tester Course?
Tutor-led training with hands-on practice using the hood and taste method, plus guidance on RPE selection, record keeping and the monthly mask checks the law requires.
