Confined space entry
City & Guilds 6160-09 Entrant & Entry Controller at Medium Risk runs at both Derby and Leeds. The combined 6160-03 High Risk and 6160-04 Entry Controller runs at Derby, for entries requiring full breathing apparatus. Confined space management
A Confined Space Manager / Supervisor course at Derby, for those planning entries, writing permits and controlling the work rather than making the entry themselves. Regulation 4 of the Confined Spaces Regulations requires a safe system of work — that has to be designed by someone competent to do it.
Water hygiene
EUSR National Water Hygiene, the blue card, at both Derby and Leeds. Required for anyone working on assets that carry drinking water — most water utility contracts will not let you on site without it, and it needs renewing every three years. See all

Which confined space qualification?
The risk classification belongs to the space, not the person entering it. Low and medium risk covers most drainage chambers, tanks and pits with reasonable access. High risk means full breathing apparatus and a considerably more demanding entry. Entrant covers going in; Entry Controller and Top Person cover managing the entry from outside. A team needs both roles covered — one person cannot do both simultaneously.
Derby or Leeds?
Derby carries the fuller range and is the only venue for high risk and the manager course. Leeds runs medium risk entry, the TQUK Level 2, and water hygiene. Derby is practical from Nottingham, Burton, Stoke and the East Midlands; Leeds from Bradford, Wakefield, York, Sheffield and the wider Yorkshire region.
