Street Works Supervisor Training: Monitoring Signing, Lighting and Guarding
This CABWI unit equips candidates with the knowledge and practical skills to monitor the signing, lighting and guarding of a street works site. Candidates learn to carry out site surveys, make sure the right provisions are in place for the location and for people with special needs, and oversee portable traffic signals and traffic control throughout the works.
Who Is This Course For?
Supervisors and managers who oversee operatives carrying out signing, lighting and guarding, and anyone needing CABWI accreditation to meet supervisory requirements under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
Course Content
- Types of works, basic principles and legal obligations for site signing and protection
- Site surveys and site-specific provisions
- Protecting pedestrians, site personnel and vehicular traffic, including cyclists and horse riders
- Managing portable traffic signals and Stop/Go control
- Works on footways, cycle lanes, tracks and routes, and near tramways and railways
Certification
Successful candidates are registered with SWQR and CABWI and receive a Street Works Register ID card. Street works cards must be renewed every 5 years.
