NEBOSH General Certificate Training in Stockton-on-Tees
The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is the most widely held health and safety qualification in the UK, with over 100,000 people currently holding the award. NEBOSH qualifications are highly valued by employers, and the majority of health and safety roles require one.
The certificate covers the main legal requirements for health and safety in the UK, the identification and control of workplace hazards, and the practical application of that knowledge.
Who Should Attend
Managers, supervisors and anyone with health and safety among their day-to-day responsibilities, or looking to take a first step towards a career in health and safety. There are recommended entry-level skills for this course, though they are not mandatory. If you are unsure whether the course is right for you, get in touch before booking and we will talk it through. You will be expected to sign up to a NEBOSH learner agreement as a condition of the course.
Course Structure
The qualification is divided into two units, each assessed separately:
- NG1 — Management of health and safety, assessed by an open book examination that you sit in your own home or another safe and suitable location where you can concentrate
- NG2 — Risk assessment, a workplace-based practical application assessing what you can do
The assessment includes a requirement to write a short report.
Course Duration
The taught element runs over two separate weeks, 9:00am to 4:00pm each day, followed by the open book examination on a set date. We run four courses per year to coincide with the standard examination dates set by NEBOSH. Each variant below shows both taught weeks and the open book exam date.

This course is delivered at The Northern Safety Centre, 109B Allison Avenue, Teesside Industrial Estate, Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, TS17 9LY.
