EUSR (Energy & Utility Skills Register) Category 1 and 2 combined training focuses on safely locating buried utility services and implementing safe excavation practices. Course Content
EUSR Category 1: Locate Utility Services
- This category focuses on the safe detection of buried utility services.
- It includes using recognised and approved detection methods like CAT and Genny (cable avoidance tools).
- It ensures compliance with industry standards and minimises risks associated with underground utilities.
EUSR Category 2: Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices
- This category covers the safe excavation and maintenance of holes and trenches.
- It involves the use of hand tools and handheld power tools.
- It emphasizes safe digging practices to avoid damage to underground services and ensure worker safety.
Assessment
At the end of the two days, candidates will be required to pass a multiple choice test.
Certification
Once the course has been completed candidates will receive a EUSR Cat 1 & Cat 2 Card
When Does the Qualification Expire?
The EUSR card is valid for 3 years from the date of training. After which the course will require renewal by anyone still working within the industry.
Requirements
A good level of written and spoken English is required to successfully complete this course.
How Do I Get an EUSR Cat 1 & Cat 2 Card?
Registration is based on successful completion of a training course. Upon successful completion, a cover note will be issued by the trainer and trainees will be registered on the EUSR. Once the necessary paperwork and payment have been received the EUSR card will be issued within 28 days.

For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.
