Georgia Property & Casualty Insurance Continuing Education
Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner approved online continuing education for property, casualty and personal lines producers and adjusters. Approved provider ID# 181313, listed on Sircon as At Your Pace Online, with completions reported to Sircon on your behalf.
Georgia CE Requirements — Hours Depend on Experience
- Licensed under 20 years: 24 hours every two years, including 3 hours of ethics.
- Licensed 20 years or more: 20 hours every two years, including 3 hours of ethics.
- Professional designations: holders of CPCU, CLU, FLMI, CIC, CEBS, ChFC, AAI, CFP, CRM or CISR, or a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance, need only 12 hours including 3 of ethics.
A 12-Hour Daily Cap
Georgia limits students to no more than 12 hours of continuing education per day. That is why the courses below are 12-hour blocks rather than a single 24-hour package — two courses across separate days is the practical route to a full renewal.
Special Rules for Adjusters and Limited Licences
- Workers' compensation adjuster only: 20 hours, either specifically in property and casualty lines or through the State Workers' Compensation Board. No ethics required.
- Workers' compensation adjuster plus other lines: either meet the standard requirement in property and casualty lines, or complete 10 of your hours through the Workers' Compensation Board.
- Limited subagent only: 10 hours in the licence type held, no ethics required.
- Combination licences: only 5 hours in a limited subagent subject area may count toward the total.
Flood Training
If you are licensed for property covered under the National Flood Insurance Program, a one-time 3-hour NFIP course is required before selling flood products. Those hours do count toward your general CE requirement. Training completed in any state where you are licensed satisfies this.
Exams Must Be Proctored
All Georgia CE exams are closed-book and require an impartial proctor to be present — not a family member and not anyone with a financial interest in the outcome. Pass mark is 70%, with unlimited retakes. Stricter than most states, and worth arranging before you start.
Missing the Deadline Gets Expensive Quickly
Licences expire on the last day of your birth month every other year. Late renewal is possible within 15 days for a fee. Beyond that you need late renewal reinstatement plus a $150 penalty. Six months or more after expiry you must also submit electronic fingerprints; more than a year after, you reapply from scratch.
Carry-Over and Repeats
Excess hours carry into the next period, capped at 50% of that period's requirement. Excess ethics hours carry as general credit only. A course cannot be repeated for credit within a licensing period.
