US State Insurance Pre-Licensing Courses Online

AYPO provides state-approved insurance pre-licensing and exam preparation education — the coursework candidates complete before sitting a state insurance licensing examination in the US. Courses are state-specific because licensing is regulated at state level, with different hour requirements and content in each.

Life & Health pre-licensing
Life & Health insurance pre-license and exam prep courses for Alabama, Florida, North Dakota, Oregon and Washington. These cover life insurance products, annuities, health insurance, and the state-specific law and regulation that appears on the licensing examination.
Property & Casualty pre-licensing
Property & Casualty pre-license and exam prep courses for Alabama, North Dakota, Oregon and Washington, plus a combined Pennsylvania insurance offering. P&C covers personal and commercial lines — homeowners, auto, liability and the associated state regulation.
Why is it state-specific?
Insurance licensing in the United States is regulated by each state's department of insurance, not federally. Required pre-licensing hours, approved course content and examination scope all vary. A course approved in Oregon does not satisfy Alabama's requirement, so candidates must take the course approved for the state where they intend to be licensed.
Life & Health or Property & Casualty?
They are separate licences covering different products. Life & Health covers life insurance, annuities and health products — typically agents working with individuals on protection and retirement. Property & Casualty covers homeowners, auto, commercial property and liability. Many agents eventually hold both, but each requires its own pre-licensing course and examination.
Where education is not mandatory
Not every state requires pre-licensing education. North Dakota has no pre-licensing requirement, and Washington removed its requirement in 2023. Courses for those states are exam preparation rather than a compulsory step — candidates take them because the licensing examinations are demanding, not because the state mandates it. Check the current position with the relevant state department of insurance before assuming any course is required.
Checking current fees or state requirements?

Course fees, approved hours and state reporting arrangements are set by the provider and change through the year. Multiple enrolments are arranged directly with them. Confirm the current position before you enrol.
