North Carolina Property & Casualty Insurance Continuing Education

North Carolina Department of Insurance approved online continuing education for property, casualty and personal lines producers and adjusters. All courses are NCDOI-approved (Provider ID# 10017514), with credits reported to the state at no extra charge.

North Carolina CE Requirements

• Producers and adjusters: 24 hours biennially, of which 3 hours must be ethics.
• Multiple lines: 24 hours total regardless of how many licences you hold. North Carolina is not licence-type specific.
• Industry meetings: up to 4 hours per term may come from approved professional or national industry organisation meetings.
• Carry-over: excess hours carry into the next term, but ethics and flood hours carry as general credit only.

The Flood Requirement Runs on a Four-Year Cycle

All adjusters and property, casualty and personal lines producers must complete NFIP flood certification training before selling flood products, then retake it every other term — a four-year cycle, not two. It counts toward your 24 hours in the term you take it.

This is why the course choice below matters. The 24 Hour Property and Casualty Review does not include NFIP. If your flood requirement falls due this cycle, take the 27 Hour Property and Casualty with NFIP instead, which bundles 3 hours of ethics and 3 hours of NFIP into a single 27-hour package. Buying the 24-hour course and discovering you needed flood is an expensive mistake.

Miss the Deadline and You Have Four Months

Licences expire at the end of your birth month, in odd or even years according to your birth year. Property, casualty and personal lines licences renew automatically provided CE is met. Miss the deadline and the licence expires; you then have four months to complete the hours and pay a $75 reinstatement fee. Past four months, you must sit pre-licensing and the state exam again.

Exam Rules

Online courses require a closed-book exam at 70% to pass, with unlimited retakes, and no monitor. Self-study courses do require an impartial monitor — not a family member and not anyone with a financial stake in the result. In-person and webinar courses need no exam, just attendance.

Reporting

Completion must be reported within 15 days using your NPN. NCDOI charges a roster fee of $2.05 per credit hour, which the provider includes in the course price — $55.35 on the 27-hour package, $49.20 on 24 hours, $6.15 on 3 hours.
