Washington Property & Casualty Insurance Exam Prep

Important: Washington Pre-Licensing Requirement

Washington removed its mandatory pre-licensing education requirement in 2023. These courses are therefore exam preparation rather than a compulsory step — you can sit the state examination without them. They remain widely used because the pass rate for unprepared candidates is low, but check the current position with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner before assuming any course is required.

How to Get Your Washington Insurance Licence

1. Prepare for the state examination for your chosen line of authority.
2. Register for the official licensing exam through the state's testing provider and pay the exam fee at the time of reservation.
3. Take and pass the licensing examination.
4. Submit your licence application to the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner, along with fingerprints where required.
5. Once approved, print your licence to begin practising.
