Texas Property & Casualty Insurance Continuing Education
Texas Department of Insurance approved online continuing education for licensed property and casualty producers and adjusters. All courses are TDI-approved (Provider ID# 98057), reported automatically to the state, and available 24/7 with no classroom attendance.
Texas CE Requirements
- Producers and adjusters: 24 hours of TDI-approved CE every two-year renewal period, of which 3 hours must be ethics.
- Limited lines: 10 hours every two years, including 3 hours of ethics.
- Classroom-equivalent rule: at least 50% of your hours must be classroom or classroom-equivalent. The courses marked Classroom Equivalent below satisfy this.
- Carry-over: excess hours do not carry into the next term. The full 24 hours must be completed within each two-year period.
- Exam: final exams are closed-book and require 70% to pass. Retakes are unlimited.
Deadlines and Penalties
Licences expire on the last day of your birth month, every two years. Miss the CE requirement and you have 90 days to make up the shortfall, with a fine of $50 for every insufficient hour. Beyond 90 days the licence is inactivated and you must apply for a new one. Completing CE at least 30 days before expiry is recommended so reporting reaches TDI in time.
Flood Insurance Training
Selling flood insurance in Texas requires a minimum of 3 hours of training established by FEMA and the National Flood Insurance Program. The NFIP certification course below meets that one-time requirement.
