Supporting people experiencing poor mental health has become a priority for individuals and organisations alike. As awareness grows, so does the need for trained mental health first aiders who can offer support, guidance and reassurance.

This nationally recognised two-day course builds a deeper understanding of common mental health issues and equips learners with the skills and confidence to respond appropriately. Mental health first aiders play a part in promoting positive wellbeing and reducing stigma at work.

Delivery Method

Delivered at the Champion Training Solutions training centre, Thorverton Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter, EX2 8GN. This course can also be run in-house at your own premises.

Course Content

• Defining mental health and wellbeing, the mental health continuum, and the factors that affect mental health
• The duties and responsibilities of a mental health first aider, including maintaining personal wellbeing
• Identifying signs and symptoms of common conditions
• Techniques for approaching, assessing and supporting colleagues, including active listening and non-judgemental communication
• Identifying workplace stress indicators, implementing mental health policies and supporting returns to work
• Providing immediate assistance during a mental health crisis
• Directing individuals towards professional help and internal resources

Certification

Successful learners receive the Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace qualification.
