The Safety Harness course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely use, inspect and maintain safety harnesses when working at height. It suits individuals working in construction, maintenance, utilities and other industries where fall protection is essential.

The course focuses on the correct selection, fitting and use of harness systems, along with the risks associated with working at height. Learners cover pre-use inspections, identifying defects, and ensuring equipment is suitable for the task, as well as anchor points, lanyards and fall arrest systems.

Delivery Method

Delivered at the Champion Training Solutions training centre, Thorverton Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter, EX2 8GN. This course can also be run in-house at your own premises.

• Introduction to working at height and associated risks
• Health and safety legislation and responsibilities
• Types of safety harnesses and equipment
• Components of a harness system: harness, lanyards, connectors and anchor points
• Pre-use inspections and equipment checks
• Correct fitting and adjustment of harnesses
• Safe use of fall arrest and restraint systems
• Understanding anchor points and their selection
• Identifying defects and when to remove equipment from use
• Safe systems of work and risk assessments
• Emergency procedures and basic rescue awareness
• Storage, maintenance and care of equipment

Certification

Successful learners receive the Safety Harness Use certificate.
