Who the Level 2 Plastering NVQ (Solid) is for

This NVQ is for solid plasterers who are already on the tools and want their experience turned into a recognised qualification, whether to win new work, move to a better role or apply for the blue CSCS Skilled Worker card. It is equally useful for employers who want their plastering team qualified and compliant on site.

What the solid plastering NVQ covers

Delivery Method

NVQ, assessed in your workplace by a qualified assessor, with support given remotely or face to face. There is no classroom attendance.

Course Duration

Flexible. Experienced plasterers with the evidence ready can fast-track; others can take the time they need around their work.

Course Content

The solid plastering pathway looks at the work you carry out day to day, such as preparing backgrounds, applying internal plaster finishes and floating and setting walls and ceilings, and external rendering. Mandatory units on health, safety and welfare and productive working practices sit alongside the occupational units, and your assessor confirms the unit mix at the start.

Assessment

• No written test or exam
• Professional discussion with your assessor
• Observation on site, or through video and photo evidence
• Evidence from your everyday work, such as RAMS, job logs and site diaries
• Witness statements from supervisors or colleagues

Certification

ProQual Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Construction), qualification number 603/0307/4, a nationally recognised qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework.

Prerequisites

No. You are assessed on evidence from your own plastering work, a professional discussion with your assessor and observation on site or through photos and video.

How long does the solid plastering NVQ take?

There is no fixed length. Plasterers who already have their evidence can fast-track, while others can work through it at a pace that suits their jobs.

Which CSCS card can I apply for?

Completing the qualification lets you apply for the blue CSCS Skilled Worker card.

Do I need to be working as a plasterer?

Yes. The NVQ is assessed on real work, so you need to be plastering on site while you complete it.
