Who the Level 3 Site Carpentry NVQ is for

The Site Carpentry pathway is for experienced carpenters who already carry out advanced work on construction sites and want a recognised Level 3 qualification. Self-employed carpenters and employers qualifying their experienced staff can both use it.

Delivery Method

NVQ – evidence comes from your everyday work and is uploaded to an electronic portfolio, with remote, face-to-face or blended support. No classes, day release or written exam.

Course Duration

Many learners complete in about 4 to 8 weeks depending on experience and evidence, or you can work at your own pace.

Course Content

Site Carpentry covers advanced carpentry on site, such as first and second fix work, fitting complex components, roof structures and staircases, working from drawings and producing work to a high standard safely.

Assessment

• An induction to assess your experience and knowledge
• Evidence such as site photos, completed jobs, RAMS, site diaries and witness testimonies
• Professional discussion and on-site observation
• Photo or video evidence

Certification

ProQual Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (qualification number 603/0670/1). The package includes a CITB test and CSCS card support, with the Gold card application handled after you qualify.

No. There are no written exams or classroom sessions. You are assessed on evidence from your own work, professional discussion with your assessor and observation on site or through photos and video.
