Who the Level 3 Construction Buying NVQ is for

The Buying pathway is aimed at construction buyers and procurement staff who already source materials, plant and subcontract packages for building projects. It recognises the purchasing work you do every day and gives experienced buyers with supervisory duties a route to the Gold Supervisor CSCS card.

What the Level 3 Construction Buying NVQ covers

Delivery Method

NVQ – built from evidence of your normal work and assessed remotely, face to face or a combination of the two. You will not need to attend a classroom, take day release or sit a written exam.

You decide the pace. Learners with plenty of ready evidence can fast-track, while others work through the portfolio around their job.

Course Content

This pathway centres on procurement for construction: obtaining quotations, placing orders, managing supplier and subcontractor relationships and making sure materials arrive when the programme needs them. You are also assessed on planning work activities, health and safety, quality monitoring, cost control and project co-ordination.

Assessment

• A qualified assessor works with you using examples from your role
• Professional discussion in place of written tests
• Evidence such as orders, supplier correspondence, RAMS and job logs
• Observation on site or by photo and video
• Witness statements from managers or colleagues

Certification

ProQual Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations (qualification number 603/0357/8). A CITB Specialist Supervisory Health, Safety and Environment test is included, along with help applying for your CSCS card and a temporary card where needed.
