This pathway is for estimators working in construction who already price projects as part of their job and want that experience formally recognised. It suits people preparing estimates and tender submissions for contractors and subcontractors, including those with supervisory responsibility who want a route to the Gold Supervisor CSCS card without going back to college.

What the Level 3 Estimating NVQ covers

Delivery Method

NVQ – a portfolio of evidence taken from your own work, assessed remotely, face to face or a mix of both. There are no classroom sessions, no day release and no written exams.

Course Duration

There is no fixed timetable: you can fast-track the qualification or work through it at your own pace, depending on your experience and how quickly you can provide evidence.

Course Content

The Estimating pathway focuses on the commercial side of contracting: working out quantities and costs, preparing estimates, putting together tender information and helping to keep projects within budget. Alongside this, you are assessed on planning work activities, maintaining health and safety, monitoring quality and contributing to cost control and project co-ordination.

Assessment

• A qualified assessor guides you through the NVQ using real examples from your job
• Professional discussion with your assessor
• Work-based evidence such as estimates, RAMS, job logs and site diaries
• Observation on site or through photo and video evidence
• Witness statements from supervisors or colleagues

Certification

ProQual Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations (qualification number 603/0357/8). The package also includes a CITB Specialist Supervisory Health, Safety and Environment test and support with your CSCS card application, including a temporary card if you need one.
