CITB SMSTS Refresher (SMSTS-R) Online (Instructor-led)

Renew Your SMSTS Before It Expires

The CITB SMSTS Refresher is a two-day course for site managers renewing their original SMSTS, or a previous SMSTS Refresher, before it runs out. It updates your knowledge of the law, guidance and best practice that affect construction site management, and on passing it renews your certificate for a further five years.

Entry Requirements

• You must have completed the five-day SMSTS and hold a valid, in-date CITB SMSTS certificate
• A copy of the certificate must be sent to the training team before the course

Course Objectives

• Put into practice the health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation that affects your daily work
• Apply new guidance and industry best practice
• Explain your own duties for health, safety, welfare and the environment

Course Content

• Module 1: Legal and management
• Module 2: Health and welfare
• Module 3: General safety
• Module 4: High risk activities
• Assessment

Assessment

A 35-minute open-book exam of 25 questions set by CITB: 18 multiple-choice and 7 multi-response or short written answer questions. The pass mark is 81%, and GE700 and XA6 can be used in the final 15 minutes. All 15 hours of the course must be attended.

Certification

• Renewed CITB Site Safety Plus SMSTS certificate, valid for 5 years
• Let it lapse and the full five-day SMSTS must be taken again
• CITB can take up to 8 weeks to issue certificates
