Site Supervision Safety Training for New and Current Supervisors

The CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is a two-day course for people who have, or are about to take on, supervisory responsibilities on a construction site. It covers the law, the health and welfare of the workforce, general safety and high-risk activities, and how a supervisor keeps a site safe, efficient and environmentally responsible.

Course Objectives

• Supervise health and safety on site in line with the law and your role
• Understand your responsibility and accountability for the health, safety and welfare of people on site
• Recognise that a safe site is also efficient, economical, productive and environmentally friendly

Course Content

• Module 1: Legal and management
• Module 2: Health and welfare
• Module 3: General safety
• Module 4: High risk activities
• Module 5: Environment
• Exercise, toolbox talk and assessment

Assessment

A 30-minute exam of 25 questions selected by CITB: 22 multiple-choice and 3 short written questions. Four safety-critical questions at the start must all be answered correctly, and the pass mark is 80%. The GE706 publication can be used in the last ten minutes. You must complete the full 15 hours to be eligible for certification.

Certification

• CITB Site Safety Plus SSSTS certificate, valid for 5 years
• Take the one-day SSSTS Refresher before it expires, otherwise the full course must be retaken
• CITB can take up to 8 weeks to issue certificates

For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.

You will be provided with a username and password which will enable you to access the e-learning portal. Login to start your course, once you have completed and passed the course, you will be able to download and print your certificate straight away.
