This A40A Slinger Signaller CPCS training course is for Operators who want to take a CPCS test to gain their Red Trained Operator Card.

A40A Slinger Signaller Course Details

  • Slinger Signaller roles and responsibilities.
  • Regulations and legislation.
  • Undertake all pre-use inspection checks.
  • Identify centres of gravity and estimate weights of loads.
  • Secure various types of load to a lifting hook using the relevant lifting accessory.
  • Ensure load balance, security and integrity.
  • Direct and guide the movement of loads to different types of location.
  • Accurately place loads.
  • Arrange, use and comply with communication procedures.
  • Maintain safe working situations.
  • Carry out-of-service and securing procedures.

Testing and Further Courses

Theory Test – a verbal test with one-to-one questions with the tester.

Practical Test – a test including:

  • Check equipment for function and serviceability including slings.
  • Establish the weight and features of each load, communication method and lifting accessory prior to lifting.
  • Lift 3 different loads from ground level to various specifications including, 180° and 360° slews.
  • Land the loads at various points with various different radius.
  • All loads to be made safe following each activity.
  • You will need to undertake a Health & Safety test within 2 years.

Next step – CPCS blue competence card and NVQ Level 2.

A good level of written and spoken English is required to successfully complete this course. If you have any concerns regarding this please contact our office and we discuss available options (e.g. hiring a translator at an additional cost).

What is awarded after completion of the course?

Once the course has been completed candidates will be eligible to receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.
