Who the Level 2 Floorcovering NVQ is for

This NVQ is for people already installing floorcoverings, including carpet fitters, vinyl and safety flooring installers, floor layers and self-employed flooring specialists. The work can be in homes, commercial developments, healthcare and education buildings or large fit-out contracts. Employers can also use it to qualify existing installation teams.

What the Level 2 Floorcovering NVQ involves

Delivery Method

Work-based NVQ assessed through an online e-portfolio. There is no classroom attendance, no day release and no written exam, and support from your assessor can be remote, face to face or a mix of both.

Duration

Many learners complete in around 4 to 8 weeks, depending on their experience, availability and how quickly evidence is gathered. You can also work through it at your own pace.

Course Content

Your evidence shows how you prepare subfloors and install carpet, vinyl, safety flooring and other floorcoverings to a professional standard, alongside working safely and productively on site.

Assessment

• An induction after enrolment reviews your current experience
• Evidence comes from work you already do, such as site photos, completed jobs, RAMS, site diaries and work logs
• Professional discussion with your assessor
• Observation on site, or through video and photo evidence
• Witness testimonies from supervisors or colleagues

Certification

ProQual Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Floorcovering Occupations, a nationally recognised qualification awarded once your portfolio has been completed and verified. Qualification number 603/6623/0.

Is there an exam for the Level 2 Floorcovering NVQ?

No. There is no written exam or classroom test. Your assessor judges your competence from evidence of your own work, professional discussion and observation, either on site or through photos and video.

How long does the Level 2 Floorcovering NVQ take?

Do I need to be working in the role?
