Who the Level 3 Plastering NVQ is for

This NVQ is for experienced plasterers, employed or self-employed, who already carry out advanced plastering on site and want a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification. Employers looking to upskill their plastering teams can also use it.

What the Level 3 Plastering NVQ covers

Delivery Method

NVQ – evidence from your day-to-day jobs is uploaded to an electronic portfolio, with remote, face-to-face or blended support. No classroom sessions, day release or written exams.

Course Duration

Many learners complete in 4 to 8 weeks depending on experience and evidence, or you can set your own pace.

Course Content

The qualification covers advanced plastering competence, including internal finishes and rendering, with specialisms such as solid plastering, fibrous plastering and moulding, heritage restoration and decorative finishes.

Assessment

• An induction to assess your current experience and knowledge
• Evidence such as site photos, completed projects, RAMS, site diaries and work logs
• Professional discussion and on-site observation
• Photo or video evidence and witness testimonies

Certification

ProQual Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (qualification number 603/5875/0). The package includes a CITB test and CSCS card support, with your card application handled after certification.

Is there an exam for the Level 3 Plastering NVQ?

No. There are no written exams or classroom sessions. You are assessed on evidence from your own work, professional discussion with your assessor and observation on site or through photos and video.

Which CSCS card does the Level 3 Plastering NVQ lead to?

Do I need to be working as a plasterer?

Yes. There are no formal entry qualifications, but the NVQ is based on real work, so you need to be doing the job now for your assessor to gather evidence. Support and assessment can be remote, face to face or a mix of both.
