TETRA Leaning & Pitched Roof Safety System Course Overview
The TETRA Leaning and Pitched Roof Safety System course in Tonbridge is designed for individuals who work at height using leaning ladders and roof ladders, and require a safe and compliant method of fall prevention. This specialist one-day training equips learners with the practical skills and knowledge needed to safely access property elevations and pitched roofs using the TETRA safety system.
Combining classroom-based theory with hands-on practical exercises, the course introduces delegates to personal fall protection equipment and demonstrates how to maintain continuous secure contact when climbing and working at height. Learners develop an understanding of how to safely position, secure and operate ladder systems in line with current best practice and manufacturer guidance.
The training focuses on hazard awareness, correct equipment usage and safe access procedures, ensuring delegates can confidently work on pitched roofs while minimising the risk of falls. It also supports compliance with UK working at height legislation and industry standards.
Who the Course is For
This course is suitable for operatives, technicians and contractors who use leaning ladders and roof ladders for short-duration access work, particularly those working on pitched roofs within construction, maintenance, utilities and property services.
Course Content
- An appreciation of UK legislation including the work at Height Regulations.
- Understand the difference between the fall arrest/ restraint and the importance of correct anchorage.
- Understand method for fitting, usage and inspection of equipment specified for this course.
- Outline the access procedures for portable ladder usage including pitched roof working.
- Outline the main hazards of roof working.
- Completion of practical exercises using and fitting equipment and securing the ladder.
- Conducting a practical ladder exercise at a height of approximately 6 metres (Guidance height only).
- Conducting a practical ladder exercise demonstration the equipment transfer methods when accessing a pitched roof.
- Self Rescue Awareness
Assessment and Certification
Successful delegates will receive a Kentec Leaning and Pitched Roof Safety System e-certification accredited by TETRA, and valid for a period of 3 years from the date of the course. Delegates will gain an understanding of current relevant legislation and be able to use the TETRA Safety System effectively on leaning and roof ladders, in line with current approved methods and manufacturer’s instructions.
Course Duration
This is a one-day course, usually delivered from approximately 08:30 to 16:30, combining theory and practical training.
Entry Requirements
- Prior Training and Experience in the use and pre-use inspection of ladders (i.e. L.A Ladder & Step Ladder for Users course)
- A TETRA Leaning Ladder Kit & TETRA Roof is required for each delegate, unless agreed by us prior to course date. Please contact our sales team for pricing.
- Delegates must be medically fit to attend and completion of a medical statement sheet is mandatory.
- Delegates must be fluent in English (C1/C2 Level).
This course consists of a training room lecture, presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment.
