Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) Course Overview
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is a nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals who are responsible for providing emergency first aid in the workplace. It equips learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to a range of emergency situations in low-risk environments.
This one-day training course combines classroom-based learning with practical exercises to ensure delegates can confidently assess incidents, manage casualties and provide immediate care until professional help arrives. It is fully aligned with UK health and safety legislation and meets the requirements for workplace first aid provision.
Learners are trained in core first aid procedures including CPR, use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), recovery position, and treatment of common injuries and medical emergencies such as choking, bleeding and shock.
Who the Course is For
This course is suitable for employees, supervisors and nominated first aiders working in low-risk environments such as offices, retail, education and light industrial settings.

- Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an emergency situation
- Managing an unresponsive casualty
- CPR and AED use
- Choking and airway obstruction management
- Control of bleeding and treatment of shock
- Minor injuries and medical conditions
- Recovery position and casualty monitoring
Assessment and Certification
Learners are assessed through practical demonstrations and a short multiple-choice exam. Successful candidates receive a Qualsafe Level 3 certificate valid for three years.
Course Duration
This is a one-day course, typically delivered over 6–7 hours of classroom and practical training.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites, although learners should have basic English literacy and be physically able to perform practical first aid techniques such as CPR.
