The CITB Temporary Works Coordinator (TWCTC) course is a comprehensive training program aimed at individuals tasked with coordinating temporary works on construction sites. This course provides essential knowledge on the role and responsibilities of a TWC, including the planning, management, and implementation of temporary works, ensuring they are designed, constructed, and dismantled safely and effectively. Key topics covered include the legal and regulatory framework, risk management, design considerations, and effective communication and coordination with the site team and other stakeholders, with an emphasis on maintaining high safety standards throughout the temporary works lifecycle. For those who have previously completed the TWCTC, you may attend the 1-day TWCTC Refresher to renew your qualification.
Temporary works is a duty rather than a job, so this course usually sits alongside a general site safety qualification rather than replacing one. Site managers appointed as coordinator normally hold SMSTS as well — CITB does not make it a prerequisite, but notes that holders come to this course better prepared. Our free Which CITB course do I need? tool shows which courses your duties call for.
