IOSH Managing Safely® Refresher
This 1-day course provides continued support to managers who have already achieved a Managing Safely certificate, revising key management responsibilities and updating delegates on changes in relevant legislation, standards and good practice.
Course Location
This course runs at our training centre in Rainham, Kent, ME8 8BE. We can also deliver this course at your workplace if suitable facilities are available – get in touch to discuss in-house options.
Who Should Attend
This course is for personnel who have achieved an IOSH Managing Safely certificate within the last five years, supporting their continuing professional development and competence.
Course Content
The course covers recognising commonly found workplace hazards and how to control them, why accidents involving injury or damage occur, how human behaviour affects health and safety at work, applying principles of good management to health and safety, and effective communication to ensure health and safety law is followed. Topics include:
- Principles of management and health and safety law
- Accident causation and prevention
- Risk assessment and control
- Monitoring safety performance
- Human factors and communications
- Occupational health hazards
- Machinery safeguarding and electrical safety
- Fire prevention
- Manual and mechanical handling
Other subjects bespoke to company requirements can also be covered, with many interactive exercises to enhance the learning experience.
Course Duration
This is a one-day course, running from 08:30 to 17:00.
Assessment
The course is validated through verbal questions and discussions during the topics, plus a final assessment. A re-take facility is available for anyone who doesn't pass first time, explained during the course introduction.
Certification
Successful candidates receive a new IOSH Managing Safely® electronic certificate, valid for five years. The certificate does not have an expiry date, though IOSH recommends a refresher course every five years.
