What is the IOSH Working Safely Course?

A one-day IOSH course for people in any industry who want to learn about health and safety in the workplace and understand their responsibilities in creating a safe work environment. It makes employees aware of their employer's duties and of their own responsibilities under health and safety law, and completing it supports the employer's duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to provide suitable and sufficient training. It is delivered by a fully accredited IOSH training centre.

Who is the IOSH Working Safely Course Suitable For?

Any employee or self-employed person, in any industry, who wants to build their understanding of basic health and safety. It is a good introduction to UK health and safety requirements. Those moving into supervisory or managerial roles should look at IOSH Managing Safely instead.

What's Included in the IOSH Working Safely Course?

A day of training built around interactive quizzes, informal discussion and real-work scenarios, followed by the IOSH assessments.

Delivery Method

Classroom, starting at 8.30am, at the provider's training centre at Kingsley Place, Mote Road, Maidstone, Kent.

Course Content

Four modules:

• Introduction to Working Safely
• Hazard and risk definitions
• Identification of common hazards
• Improving safety performance

By the end of the course delegates understand health and safety law and regulations, how to identify hazards and evaluate risks, how to apply the appropriate workplace precautions for a specific risk, how to assist managers in preparing written risk assessments, the importance of following health and safety policy, how to work safely in their own workplace and how to report incidents and accidents.

Assessment / Examination

A multiple-choice exam and three paper-based hazard identification practical assessments.

Certification

Successful delegates receive an electronic IOSH Working Safely certificate.
