What is the IOSH Managing Safely Course?

The three-day IOSH Managing Safely course, delivered by a fully accredited IOSH training centre. Candidates learn to assess and control hazards and to understand their own health and safety responsibilities. By the end, supervisors and managers understand how human behaviour affects health and safety in the workplace, how to apply best practice in their own work environment and how to communicate with their workforce about health and safety.

Course Duration

Course Content

Seven modules:

• Introduction to Managing Safely
• Understanding your responsibilities
• Understanding and identifying hazards
• Risk assessments
• Controlling risks
• Investigating incidents
• Measuring performance

Within these modules delegates gain practical knowledge of health and safety law, the principles of management, accident causation and prevention, risk assessment and control, occupational health hazards, fire prevention, electrical safety, manual and mechanical handling, and good management and effective communication.

Assessment / Examination

A 30-question mixed-format exam and a practical assessment at the end of the three days.

Certification

Successful candidates receive an electronic IOSH Managing Safely certificate, valid for five years and renewed by taking the one-day IOSH Managing Safely Refresher before it expires.
