The Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)

This two-day CITB SSSTS course is delivered in a classroom at Clay Cross, Derbyshire, S45 9JW. It is designed for those with supervisory responsibility on a UK construction site, covering health and safety law and the practical duties that come with the role.

Who is the SSSTS Course Suitable For?

Site supervisors, team leaders, gangers, foremen and those being promoted into a supervisory role. There are no prerequisites and no previous qualifications are required.

Course Content

• Health and safety law and the supervisor's legal duties
• Risk assessments and method statements
• Site inductions and toolbox talks
• Monitoring, inspection and reporting
• Working at height, excavations and confined spaces
• Occupational health, manual handling and hazardous substances
• Behavioural safety and leading by example

Assessment

Full attendance across both days is required, with assessment exercises throughout and an end-of-course test.

Certification

The CITB SSSTS certificate lasts for 5 years, after which the one-day SSSTS Refresher must be completed before the existing certificate expires. Once it has lapsed the full two-day course must be retaken.

After completing the course, learners can order their certificate directly from the provider.

E-learning and Online (Instructor-led) training is more flexible, efficient, and cost-effective.

Short online courses also help employers to demonstrate that they have fulfilled their legal duties to ensure their personnel have been adequately trained.

Once the courses have been completed, a confirmation of results can be saved or printed as evidence. This can then be kept on record as evidence of suitable training.
