Pragmatic Consulting
CITB Site Safety Plus, Temporary Works and Directors' Training – Live Online from a Utility Sector Specialist
Pragmatic Consulting is a CITB Approved Training Organisation based at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, trading since 2014 and better known in the utility world than the construction one, where most of its work is with gas, water and power contractors. The CITB range listed here – nine Site Safety Plus courses – is delivered almost entirely live over Zoom, which makes it a practical choice for utility firms whose site teams need SMSTS, SSSTS or temporary works tickets without leaving the depot for a week.
Site management and supervision
The five-day SMSTS and two-day SSSTS both run live online, with the two-day SMSTS Refresher and one-day SSSTS Refresher alongside. Both refreshers must be taken while the original certificate is still in date. See all CITB courses.
Temporary works – coordinator and supervisor
The two-day Temporary Works Coordinator course is the strongest scheduled line in the catalogue, with dates published roughly monthly well into 2027, and the one-day Temporary Works Supervisor course runs beside it on a similar rhythm. Both follow BS 5975:2019 and BS 5975-1:2024 and are management courses rather than design courses – they teach the coordinator's and supervisor's roles, the paperwork and the four Cs, not how to calculate a prop.
Awareness and environment – HSA and SEATS
The one-day Health and Safety Awareness course is the Site Safety Plus route to the CSCS Green Labourer card and runs live online. SEATS, the one-day site environmental course, is the only one here with a classroom option: it runs online and at the provider's own centre at Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth – see other courses in Warwickshire.
Directors' Role for Health and Safety
The one-day Directors' Role for Health and Safety course completes the ladder at board level – legal duties, governance, appointing competent people and the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. Delegates need a director-level or strategic role and should complete CITB's pre-course eLearning first. The IOSH Safety for Executives and Directors course is the usual alternative for boards outside construction.
What live online delivery involves
Every online course here is a scheduled, instructor-led Zoom classroom with fixed start and finish times – typically 08:30 to 16:30 – not self-paced e-learning. Delegates need a laptop or PC with a webcam and microphone, a stable connection and a quiet room for the whole course; cameras stay on and the CITB exam is sat at the end of the final day. Mandatory CITB publications are supplied as eBooks for online courses and as hard copies for the Kenilworth classroom. Browse all online instructor-led courses.
Keep the certificate current
SMSTS, SSSTS and both temporary works certificates last five years. The SMSTS and SSSTS refreshers must be completed while the original certificate is still in date – there is no grace period, and a lapsed ticket means the full course again. The temporary works courses have no refresher: they are simply retaken before expiry. Diary the renewal date when the PDF certificate arrives.
